Last week we had a Potluck at our Midwife's office. It was terrible weather but Calliope and Dad seemed to have a great time getting wet. I actually don't think Calliope would have had as much fun if it were sunny out.
Calliope always loved the visits, she especially looked forward to seeing Penny. Funny, how someone can be so popular because they give stickers to you after a visit. Truely, Penny is a wonderful woman she always seemed so happy to see us. Calliope would talk about her for days before and after our appointment.
Terry Lyn is our Midwife. She caught both my children and I wouldn't have it any other way. The care is so wonderful, and I feel so secure during my visits at the office, being at the hospital and even coming to my home after the births.
The experience that I have had seeing a Midwife is so inspirational to me. It has changed the way that I think about my health and the care I choose to recieve for myself and my family. I now take the time to ask more questions, I research more and I take the other view just for argument's sake. I realize that I am in control of what happens to my body and I have the right to know what tests are being done and why. As a pregnant woman, and a woman in labour, we have the right to enjoy our experience, and we should demand that all our caregivers respect that. I have never felt so good, strong and respected as when I were pregnant. It is a subject that I am drawn strongly to, and I hope to continue enlightening myself.
